Adult Prom

Adult Prom

Dress: Anthropolgie. Shoes: Kate Spade (great option here). Necklace: zoë & fig Sunglasses: Jimmy Choo

Last week I went to a good friend's wedding in Washington, D.C., the reception was held at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, it was quite possibly the best venue I've attended a reception at. The weather was perfect for a wedding and it honestly felt like prom- it's great when a large group of your friends attend the same wedding - we literally danced the night away!

When dressing for weddings take into consideration the couple (fun/traditional etc.), venue (inside/outside/multiple), weather, and comfort (you'll be in the dress and shoes all day and maybe night) but always keep it simple- attracting too much attention to yourself is not the goal. The Mr.'s colors easily complemented mine without being too obnoxious, it's all in the details...right?!

Fall has quickly made its presence known in NYC and I'm delighted that the pumpkin craze has taken over local bakeries and coffee shops and that layers are here to stay for the next six months. What's you fav part of fall?

P.S. Stay tuned for an exciting announcement from me!!!!!

Black & Gold

Shoes: Chinese Laundry Pants: Bloomingdales (similar here) Shirt: Forever 21 Bag: Rebecca Minkoff Necklace: Baublebar Bracelet: BCBG Max Azria Watch: Michael Kors

Hello Lovies! I hope everyone is having a rockin' summer! I know it's been so long since you've heard from me, things have been kind of hectic on this side of the laptop. No worries though, I'm effectively back on the wagon!

One of the perks of living in NYC is that there are endless amounts of concert series held all summer. Last night I attended the living salsero legend, Ruben Blades, concert hosted by Lincoln Out of Doors. This outfit proved to be a winner on all fronts; sexy and comfy.

I'd love to know what you're coveting for fall, I'm already eyeing this McQ number.

We've rolled out our Styling Services be sure to check us out- we may just be able to save your closet!

Converse x Comme des Garçons

converse x comme des garcons converse x comme des garcons converse x comme des garcons converse x comme des garcons

I'm generally not a sneaker girl but...Fresh from Converse and CDG's third collaboration come these cuties. This line was launched today as part of the CDG PLAY for Converse Pro leather collection (yes they're leather!). These street-styled sneakers were designed by Rei Kawakubo's Japanese label with their signature heart-and-eye logo on all versions. Find them available in Milk and Black Mid and Ox silhouettes with contrasting heart-and-eye colors. They go on sale in the NYC Comme de Garçons store and the Dover Street Market's website beginning May 28th. Expect to pay more than usual for these Converse- prices will range from $130-$140.

Converse is no rookie to teaming up with fabulous designers-check out previous collabs with Missoni and Marimekko

My favorite are the white with black heart-and-eye logo. What are your's?

Have an amazingly festive and safe Memorial Day Weekend! I know I will!

Très Cool

Shoes: Steve Madden Jeans: Current/Elliot Sweater: ASOS (similar) Sunglasses: Jimmy Choo Necklace: Forever 21 Bracelet: Derng Watch: Michael Kors Earrings: Anthropologie (similar) Polish: OPI Hot & Spicy (similar)

I bought this sweater months ago but it was no fun to wear because it was freezing outside and while schlepping around NYC it got lost amongst my layers of clothes. Today marked the first day I was able to  wear open-toed shoes too- and what better way to celebrate than these bad girl chic Steve Madden sandals? I always see other blogger's posts in NYC sporting sandals in January and I know for sure they run outside take some pictures with them on and run back in- you won't see me doing that!

Today I read in Brooklyn Bridge Park, ate some ice cream, and stumbled upon the filming of the next Spider-Man movie in DUMBO! These are the days I love Brooklyn and NYC. Summer is quickly approaching and I'm looking forward to debuting some cute looks soon. Any plans for Memorial Day Weekend?

Game Day Uniform

Hat: Akomplice. Pants: Current/Elliott. Shirt: Ralph Lauren (similar) Tee: American Apparel Sneakers: Converse. Sunglasses: Jimmy Choo. Watch: Michael Kors

My friends are probably beginning to wonder if I own any other clothing aside from this outfit. But it is sooooo comfortable, I can't help but wear it ohhhhh let's say a couple times a week. This. Is. My. Uniform. And what better place to wear your uniform than your first Yankees game? If you've never been you definitely should put it on your "to do" list. It was a quintessential spring day in NYC- perfect for a baseball game. I had so much fun! How have you celebrated spring's arrival? Do you have a uniform, or am I alone in my repetitiveness? :)

Refuse to be Terrorized

Yesterday, as I walked to my gate at Washington, D.C.'s National Airport out of the corner of my eye I saw a television on CNN, breaking news that two bombs had exploded at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. As I did on 9/11 my first thought was that it couldn't possibly be real, my hometown bombed on Patriot's Day (a Massachusetts holiday), the day of the Boston Marathon, a day of festivities and celebration? To my disgust my worst nightmare had come true. I tried calling my family but all cell phones were down due to the influx in calls- panic set in, it is ordinary for families to cheer on the runners and watch the Marathon in all of its glory... I thought the worst. Thank goodness everyone is okay, including my friends who ran the Marathon.

My heart breaks for Martin Richard, his family, and all of the victims involved in yesterday's tragedy. The first responders, Marathon volunteers, and ordinary spectators who ran towards the blast to assist those affected by the bombs are the true heroes and I'm grateful for all they did and continue to do. My city is a resilient, proud city that will refused to be terrified by terrorists. Not only will we overcome this atrocity but we will emerge stronger and with renewed sense of compassion and focus. Take care of each other. Pray for each other. PEACE.

Coat: Banana Republic (old) similar here. Sweater: J Crew. Shirt: J.Crew. Jeans: Banana Republic. Boots: Seychelles. Watch: Michael Kors. Sunglasses: Jimmy Choo. Umbrella: London Fog. Bracelets: J.Crew, Etsy, Kate Spade. Necklace: H&M.

Spring is in the air, and with that comes temperamental weather. One moment it's 60º and sunny, the next it's drizzling and 40º. New York City has taught me to be prepared for any type of weather- hence the umbrella. My hope is that everyone got their party on at some point during spring break and rounded things off nicely with Easter. Did you go anywhere fun for spring break? Do share!

Link Love

To love yourself is paramount. As of late, I have found myself repeating the love yourself motto over and over to friends. For a host of reasons, it is easy (and natural at times) for some of us to allow the nagging, neurotic voice of self-doubt to creep up on us and wreak havoc in our lives. During our tough times, in the words of Liz Taylor, "Pour  yourself a drink, put on some lipstick, and pull yourself together." We are all so much stronger than we give ourselves credit for and if we depend on anyone but ourselves to make us happy we'll be destined to be nothing but miserable.

I'm usually not so emotional or philosophical on this blog- but when life continues to speak to you I think it's important to share the message (damn I sound like Oprah), and honestly I can't imagine a more important message to reiterate.

With all that's good to be blogging again. I've had my eye on grad school, travel and lots of sales lately- hope you enjoy all the Link LOVE.

With spring around the corner J. Crew is having an amazing sale check out this sequined number!

I recently went to a screening of The Prep School Negro and received some goodies from Miss Jessie's just for attending.

HELLO! Prabal Gurung released a romantic little collection at Target (aka finally something affordable from the designer) check it out while supplies last.

I'm crushing hard on this outfit but I'd switch the shoes to make it a little more edgy and hence, a little more me.

And to come full circle with this post while you're pulling yourself together during a crisis there is undoubtedly no better way to do so than with a glass of Sangria- check out these delicious 20 recipes and inspire yourself to...

Golden Globe Favs

Best in black. {Emilio Pucci}

Best at being sexy. This woman is 46! {Atelier Versace}

Best in nude, love the bangs. {Miu Miu}

I couldn't cut Seacrest out without ruinung the photo. The bejeweled ombre dress is so feminine & whimsical. {Monique Lhuillier}

Best guilty pleasure. Granted Lucy looks like drapery but I love it. {Carolina Herrera}

Best color. This color looks great against Jessica's skin tone. {Oscar de la Renta}

Did anyone catch the Golden Globes last night? You've probably been inundated with coverage of last night's show via the fashion police and gossip columns. So what harm could one more do? It's a weird personal policy of mine not to watch awards shows so I didn't watch last night's festivities but I definitely have my best dressed picks from it. These leading ladies were dazzling and all for different reasons. Do you agree with my picks? Who was your best dressed of the night? Who made the worst fashion faux pas...that's my favorite part!
